Biography
Comic book artist Ralph "Rags" Morales is best known for his work on various books for DC Comics, including Identity Crisis, Hourman, Hawkman, Nightwing, and The New 52 reboot of then Superman-centric Action Comics. His early work includes penciling Forgotten Realms as part of the TSR line of books and some Valiant titles such as Turok and Archer & Armstrong. Some recent work includes penciling the third installment of the New York Times best-selling series, The Amory Wars (Boom! Studios).
Morales illustrated Brad Meltzer's limited series Identity Crisis, one of his most important and celebrated works. Because of the number of characters in it, including minor ones that had barely been seen in years, Morales used copious amounts of reference materials for character studies, including the use of famous actors' faces to give the characters unique facial features, and sometimes updating their costumes in the process.
March 2023 will see the release of the Dark Horse Comics Order and Outrage, a new sci-fi epic about resisting the forces of a ruthless totalitarian regime, in which Morales teams up with legendary comic creator Jim Starlin.
