Biography
Jodi Benson is an American actress and singer that is best known for providing the voice of Ariel in Disney's 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid and throughout other films, including its sequel, prequel, and television spin-off. A few years later, she voiced the title character in the independent musical fantasy animation film, Thumbelina (1994). She has also brought to life the bubbly voice of Barbie in Pixar's Toy Story 2 (1999) and Toy Story 3 (2010), though her first experience with the Mattel fashion doll was in the 1992 VHS, Dance! Workout with Barbie, where she voiced a stop-motion Barbie that would introduce the workouts.
She has also voiced Lady in Lady and the Tramp II (2001), Jenna in Balto: Wolf Quest (2002), Weebo in Flubber (1997), Helen of Troy in the Hercules animated series Patrick Dempsey's assistant Sam, in Disney's Enchanted (2007). In 1982, she was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in Gershwin’s musical romantic comedy, “Crazy for You”.
