(Winnipeg, September 16, 2020) – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Winnipeg Comiccon announces that its inaugural event, originally scheduled from October 30 to November 1, 2020 at RBC Convention Centre, will be postponed to next year, from October 29 to 31, 2021.
“The health and safety of our attendees, guests, volunteers, partners, exhibitors and employees remain our top priorities. As such, we support the measures taken by the different levels of government and health authorities to deal with COVID-19.
We were looking forward to bringing our brand of the Comiccon experience to Winnipeg for the first time this fall, so that makes the current situation especially difficult. Even so, the Comiccon leadership team is looking to the future with hope and optimism, as we prepare a fantastic inaugural event for next fall. We hope everyone will remain healthy this fall and winter, and look forward to contributing to Winnipeg’s culture, tourism and economy next year,” said co-founder Scott Péron.
More details on the 2021 edition will be released in the coming months.
Information to ticket holders: A “COVID-19” page has been created on the Winnipeg Comiccon website on which ticket holders will find answers to their questions. https://comicconwinnipeg.com/information-concerning-covid-19/
Comiccon’s first events were small comic book shows, which grew to integrate special guests, science-fiction, fantasy, anime, horror, video games, tabletop gaming, cosplay, and more! Since then, our organization has hosted over 40 pop culture conventions in Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City.
We realize that many people loved and enjoyed the many years that Central Canada Comic Con (C4) was the central pop culture event. With this new iteration, our goal is not to replace what came before, but to deliver a fan experience that pop culture enthusiasts have been yearning for.
