Winnipeg (Manitoba) Tuesday, December 17, 2019 – In late November, it was announced that the organizers responsible for Comiccons in Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City will be landing at the RBC Convention Centre from October 30 to November 1, 2020 to host their first Winnipeg Comiccon.
This first edition will celebrate all aspects of pop culture fandom, including science-fiction, fantasy, anime, horror, video games, tabletop games, and, of course, comic books! One of the key attractions for many fans is the possibility to meet their favourite stars from film and television to get their autograph, strike a pose with them, or see them on stage.
The initial guest line-up includes John Barrowman, best known for his role breakout role of Captain Jack Harkness on Doctor Whoand Torchwood.Fans of the CW series Arrowand Legends of Tomorrowwill recognize him as the occasionally villainous Malcolm Merlyn. However, having extensive musical and theatrical experience, Barrowman shines most on stage – and his convention appearances are something to behold, with many saying his performance is worth the price of admission alone. In addition, Lou Ferrigno,best known as the title character on the hit television show, The Incredible Hulk, will be there to meet fans. At the age of 21, Ferrigno became the youngest winner of the Mr. Universe title in its history. He has also collaborated on providing the voice of The Hulk in several of the MCU films, including The Avengers (2012), The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015),and Thor: Ragnarok (2017).
Winnipeg Comiccon will host over 100 activities, including workshops, panels, board games, autograph sessions, photo ops and so much more. For fans lookingfor original artwork, video games, t-shirts, comics, toys, statues, and more collector items, the 100,000-square-foot exhibition hall will feature well over 200 retailer and artist booths, making it a shopping experience like no other.
Winnipeg Comiccon runs from Friday, October 30 to Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the RBC Convention Centre. Tickets are available for single day and weekend tickets, as well as special VIP packages, starting today. Families will be thrilled to know that kids 12 and under can enter the convention free* of charge on all three days (*must be accompanied by an adult).
